Im Bildungsplan der 8. Klasse Realschule ist das Thema "California" vorgesehen. Dieses wurde von der Studentengruppe in Form eines Internetprojektes behandelt. Vorgesehen war eine vierstündige Gruppenarbeitsphase mit abschließender Präsentation des Gruppenthemas.

Bedingungen:
Die Klasse 8 der Emil-Thoma Realschule besteht aus 20 Schülern. Ihr Englischlehrer, Herr Lauber, war während des Projekts als Beobachter anwesend und ermöglichte die Benutzung des Computerraums für 2 x 3 Schulstunden.
Der Computerraum ist auf dem neuesten Stand, jeder Schüler hatte die Möglichkeit einen Rechner zu benutzen, ein Beamer für Präsentationen ist ebenfalls vorhanden.
Das Klassenthema "California" sollte als Recherche behandelt werden, während der sich die Schüler in ihr Gruppenthema einarbeiten sollten, um es ihren Mitschülern am Ende als Präsentation vorzustellen. Mehr Hintergrundinformation sollten in ein Handout eingearbeitet werden, welches später als eine Art "Tourist Guide" zusammengefasst und für jeden Schüler kopiert wurde.

Das Klassenarbeitsblatt mit den Arbeitsanweisungen und einigen Tipps für die Präsentation kann als Word-Dokument heruntergeladen werden.

Lesson Plan

1st DAY:

Brainstorming 5 min	Students mention words witch come to their mind when they think of California	Teacher writes them on blackboard and names the five sub-topics: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Yosemite Park, Sports, Hollywood
Information on working process 5-10min	Students learn topic and sub-topics: they get information about the working-process and the final presentation	Teacher introduces topic and sub-topics and informs students about the working-process and their final presentation
